She wasn’t planned. She simply appeared.
Among the vibrant greens, yellows, blues and flowing forms, I began to see the suggestion of a woman surrounded by flowers—as though she had been there all along, waiting to be discovered.
That is one of the things I love most about this way of painting. Images can emerge without intention, and what I discover may be completely different from what another person sees.
Girl With Flowers in Her Hair reminds me that sometimes beauty isn’t something we create or search for. Sometimes we simply become still enough to notice what has already appeared.
